The Egyptian Automotive Council will hold a meeting in the next few days to announce the new local agents who will become council members.

Hussein Mostafa, Coordinating Manager at the council, said they will hold a meeting on Wednesday, to announce the new agents representing the different automotive sector parties on the council.

Mostafa asserted that they are soon to complete all legal procedures for registration at the Ministry of Social Solidarity.

Farid El-Tobgy, Chairman of Bavarian Auto Group, told Daily News Egypt that the meeting will witness the addition of a great number of agents. This will make the council a meeting place for all automotive sector parties, including car manufacturers and feeding industries, as well as agents and distributors.

The EAC was established in May by some automotive market leaders.

El-Tobgy sponsored the new council’s establishment, and gathered all automotive sector parties, including automotive associations and sectors, whether manufacturers or the leaders of the feeding industries sector.

He added that one of the most prominent obstacles facing the sector is the issue of indicative prices and the dollar shortage, in addition to the lack of standard specifications for cars. He explained that the 10 specifications currently applied have nothing to do with the automotive industry.

As for the division within the automotive market, El-Tobgy said: “No one can deny that there is a division within the market. However, we consider the establishment of a unified entity including all the parties of the automotive sector, like manufacturers, traders and distributors, as a reunion for the sector.”

El-Tobgy asserted that the entity does not aim at abolishing the role of the Egyptian Automobile Manufacturers Association, but rather to gather all parties of the industry under one entity. He added that council membership is available to all workers in the Egyptian automotive market.
