The Ministry of Interior announced the killing of a protester in Alexandria who was allegedly “a member of the Muslim Brotherhood who carried a machine gun”.

The ministry added, in a Sunday statement, that two “elements of the Brotherhood” were carrying arms. “Immediately police forces dealt with them, which lead to the death of one [person].”

No official statement has yet been released by the Ministry of Health.

FJP, the political arm of the Brotherhood, has announced that it will stage protests in different cities, in opposition of the current government.

State media reported that other protests are taking place in the city of Menufiya, “repeating anti-army and -police chants, which provoked the locals to clash with them”.
