The Revolutionary Socialists logoThe Revolutionary Socialists announced on Saturday their refusal to take part in the Al-Ahram institution seminar that will be headed by President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi with the aim of discussing the youth and political parties’ participation in the political scene.

Ranwa Youssef, a member of the Revolutionary Socialists said that none of the members will be participating in any initiatives headed by Al- Sisi who “is the leader of a revolution against the 25 January Revolution “. She added that the Revolutionary Socialists hold Al-Sisi accountable for all the detentions and hunger strikers who are on the verge of dying.

Al-Sisi noted that he will inaugurate the conference himself and stressed the importance of youth participation in the political scene, according to state-run newspaper Al-Ahram.

Al-Ahram held the first preparatory session for the seminar on Saturday where a number of political parties participated.

The Free Egyptians party took part of the preparatory seminar which discussed a range of topics including the Protest Law, according to Shehab Wagih, spokesman of the Free Egyptians Party.

However, Muslim Brotherhood spokeswoman Wafaa Al-Banna stated that Al-Sisi has invited his allies to the seminar and that he is not involving all youth forces in the political scene, many of which were central to recent prominent youth movements.

Salah Abdel Maboud, Salafi Al-Nour Party member noted that if the Al-Nour Party is invited to attend it will definitely take part of it as it is “positive participation” in the political scene.
