Seven medium-sized improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were found and deactivated near Tanta Police Station on Thursday night, according to a statement made by the Ministry of Interior.

The seven homemade IEDs were connected with an electrical circuit and a timer inside of a black bag, which was placed 20 meters away from the police station.

The Ministry of Interior was not available to comment on suspects or arrests.

Security establishments have recently become targets of such attacks, with the latest being a car bomb that exploded near the military intelligence building in Anshas, Sharqeya on Sunday morning resulting in the injury of four soldiers.

Another blast at the Daqahleya Security Directorate in Mansoura, which occurred on 23 December, has killed at least 16 people and injured over 100.
