Egypt is working on attracting Indian tourists in cooperation with the Indian toursim sector

Governor of Luxor Tarek Saadeddin has reiterated his full support of Egyptian and Indian tourism companies who aim to bring one million Indian tourists to Egypt, and emphasised that Luxor has many excellent hotels that cater to all tourists.

This statement was made during the signing of the cooperation protocol between the Tourism Authority and the Union of Indian Trip Organisers in the hope of encouraging Indian tourism to Egypt. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Tourism Hesham Zaazou and Minister of Aviation Abdel Aziz Fadel.

The agreement aims to attract 1 million Indian tourists over the next three years and encourage cooperation between the tourism sectors in both countries and help Egypt overcome the current issues that have been plaguing the tourism sector since January 2011.

Part of the agreement includes the development of marketing and tourism promotions through the exchange of information on the Indian market by local tourism companies to the Tourism Office in Mumbai as well as the council of Egyptian-Indian business. The agreement also details participation in tourism exhibitions and festivals as well as encouraging Indian investments in Egyptian tourism projects.

According to state-owned news agency MENA, it is mentioned in the agreement that the Ministry of Tourism in Egypt will simplify the visa application process Indian tourists visiting Egypt and will encourage Egyptians to visit Indian cities using EgyptAir.

Indian and Egyptian tourism companies are putting forth a plan to reach the target of 1 million Indian tourists in Egypt by 2017 through an ad campaign with the Tourism Office in Mumbai.
