The attempts to tarnish the relationship between Egypt and Kuwait have failed, presidential media adviser Ahmed El-Moslimany told state-owned Al-Ahram on Friday night.

The statements came in response to media reports citing interim President Adly Mansour as saying that Kuwait had delayed sending financial aid to Egypt as it is a “lower priority,” after Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. The reports were unproven.

El-Moslimany described the Kuwaiti stance on the situation in Egypt as “great and historic”.

Presidential spokesman, Ihab Badaw,i meanwhile announced on Thursday that Mansour is expected to visit Kuwait soon, while also reaffirming Egypt’s appreciation for Kuwait’s stance.

Kuwait announced, after the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi, that it would grant Egypt $4bn in the form of cash grants, deposits and petroleum products. $5bn from Saudi Arabia and $3bn from the United Arab Emirates are also expected.
