Former president Mohamed Morsi’s bureau manager Ahmed Abdel Atty, as well as and his adviser for security and crises Ayman Hodhod were detained for 15 days by the Heliopolis Persecution office for interrogation regarding the presidential palace clashes  on 5 December 2012 on Tuesday.

According to state-owned news agency MENA, Abdel Atty and Hodhod are accused of illegal detention, torturing, issuing death threats and participation in killing demonstrators who protested against Morsi’s constitutional decree issued on 22 November 2012.

Morsi’s former presidential team members have denied all accusations.

Former presidential chief of staff, Mohamed Refaa El-Tahtawi, and his deputy Assad El-Sheikha were detained two days ago for the same case.

The presidential palace clashes on 5 of December 2012 occurred after supporters of the then-president destroyed tents of opposition groups, who were protesting Morsi’s controversial constitutional decree.
