The Building and Development Party (BDP), the political wing of Al-Jama’a Al-Islamiya filed a lawsuit against Chairman of the Judges’ Club Ahmed Al-Zind for encouraging the United States to interfere in Egypt’s affairs.
The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday with the Prosecutor General Tala’at Abdallah after Al-Zind made statements addressing US President Barack Obama on Monday.
Al-Zind said that the US should be responsible for relieving the Egyptian people of what happens every day from limiting freedoms to prosecuting activists and targeting political parties.
“Such statements should be considered as a crime,” said BDP official spokesman Khaled Al-Sherif.
He added that the Egyptian people revolted in 25 January 2011 against the corrupt regime and its dependency on the Western powers.
“We removed Mubarak because he was a minion for the US,” Al-Sherif said.
He added that the lawsuit demanded lifting the judicial immunity of Al-Zind and investigating his refusal to carry out Shura Council decisions; they also demanded investigation into Al-Zind’s call for judges to boycott observing the constitutional referendum.
“The freedoms committee of the lawyers syndicate also filed a lawsuit against him; no one is above the law,” Al-Sherif said adding that all three authorities, executive, legislative and judicial, should act as servants to the people.
