The Mansoura University administration cancelled a seminar for ex-parliamentarian Mostafa Alnagar and political activist Wael Ghoneim, saying that they are “a danger”.

The seminar was approved earlier by the Faculty of Pharmacy and was scheduled to be hosted by the Faculty of Medicine.

“We were invited by students from different political affiliations, but after getting approval for the seminar, the president of the university cancelled it,” said Mostafa Alnagar.

He added that the university administration notified the deans of several faculties not to host such seminars because they represent a danger to the students.

“He told the students they could host Islamist figures and last week they hosted Salafis, but he doesn’t want to allow opposition figures to talk to the students,” Alnagar said.

He added that it was a “disgrace” for the administration to cancel the seminar because he and Ghoneim do not support the Muslim Brotherhood regime.

According to the students, the Muslim Brotherhood-dominated Student Union previously threatened to cancel the seminar.

The Mansoura University administration could not be reached for comment.
