Protesters demanding changing the government and amending the disputed articles in the recently passed constitution, as well as conducting a “serious national dialogue”, prevented employees from entering the Qaliubiya governorate building and set up tents in front of the main and back entrances to the building.

Governor of QaliubiyaAdel Zayed gave the employees an exceptional day off, Thursday, after protesters surrounded the building, cutting off the Corniche main road and announcing an indefinite sit-in, according to state-run news agency MENA.

Since early morning on Thursday, protesters from various political powers and parties flooded the streets of Qaliubiya, prompting the governor to shut down the building for fear of violent escalations against the building and the employees.
