April 6 logoA demonstration by the 6 April Youth Movement took place in front of the general prosecutor’s office on Saturday morning, calling for the release of two of its members accused of being a part of the Black Bloc movement, and the removal of General Prosecutor Tala’at Abdallah.

The detainees, Khaled Mohamed and Ahmed Tarek, were accused of being Black Bloc members for wearing black t-shirts last Monday.

Spokesperson for 6 April Mohamed Youssef told state-owned Al-Ahram the prosecutor refused to release the detained despite being provided with a recorded video proving the activists were not wearing face masks.

6 April member Nagla’ Abdel-Gawad said although the detainees should have been released days ago, they were transferred to the emergency state security prosecution.
